Privacy Policy

The short version
Data Privacy Agent is built to remove tracking, not add it. It runs locally in your browser. It does not collect your browsing history, the pages you visit, your name, or your IP-linked identity. The little data it does handle is anonymous and exists only to make the extension work and improve. We never sell data.
What we collect
Settings & local data — stays on your device. Your preferences, the consent funnels the extension learns, a cached copy of the rule-set, the list of sites where it declined a banner (shown in the popup’s History tab), and a running list of the ad-tech companies it has seen on pages you visit (company names only — never which pages) are stored locally via the browser’s storage. This never leaves your browser unless a section below says otherwise. If you choose “Forget this site”, the extension deletes that site’s consent cookies so its banner asks again — it never reads or sends cookies otherwise.
An anonymous install ID + minimal usage events. The extension generates a random install identifier — not linked to you, your email, or your IP — and sends minimal, non-identifying events (for example, that a banner was handled or a “pay or consent” wall was flagged). This contains no browsing history, URLs, or page content.
Linking your devices (optional). If you choose “Use Pro on another device”, one device shows a short code that expires in 10 minutes and the other device types it. Our server then records that the two random install IDs belong together, so a subscription and your deletion list can follow you. No name, email or login is involved, and you can unlink at any time.
Website visit counts by country. When you open a page on dataprivacyagent.io, our server adds one to a counter for that page, that day and the country your connection reports. That is the whole record: no IP address, no cookie, no identifier, no browser details. It tells us which languages to support next.
Opt-in coverage reports — off by default. If, and only if, you turn on reporting in settings, the extension may send the public hostname of a site where it found a tracking funnel (e.g. example.com), so we can improve coverage for everyone. This is a public fact about a website, never about you: no full URL, no page content, no identity, no history.
Email — only when you give it. If you join the early-access waitlist or subscribe to the paid service, you provide your email directly. Waitlist email is used only to contact you about early access. Subscription email is used to manage your account and is processed by our payment provider (Stripe).
What we do NOT collect
- Your browsing history or the list of sites you visit.
- The content of pages you view.
- Your name, address, or IP-linked identity (beyond what is inherent to making a network request).
- Any data we could sell — we don’t, and we never will.
How we use what we collect
Solely to: operate the extension, keep the consent rule-set current, understand aggregate usage so we can improve, and (if you opt in) expand site coverage. No advertising, no profiling, no resale.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent data. We share only with infrastructure providers that run the service on our behalf — our hosting/database provider and, for paid subscriptions, our payment processor (Stripe, which handles payment details under its own privacy policy). They process data only to provide their service to us.
Data retention
Anonymous usage events are retained only as long as useful for product analytics. Opt-in hostname reports are aggregated. Waitlist email is kept until you unsubscribe; subscription data is kept as long as your account is active and as required for billing and legal purposes.
Your choices
- Turn opt-in reporting on or off at any time in settings (off by default).
- Uninstall the extension to remove all locally stored data.
- Unsubscribe from the waitlist or cancel your subscription at any time.
- To request access to, or deletion of, any email you gave us, contact privacyagentpro@gmail.com. We honor applicable rights under the GDPR and CCPA.
The iOS and macOS app
On Apple devices, Data Privacy Agent ships as an app containing the Safari extension. Everything above applies unchanged; two details are specific to the app:
- The extension shares its status and your on-device tracker list with the app through Apple’s App Group storage. This is a transfer between two processes on your own device — it never touches a server.
- If you tap “Count me in” on the Pro card, the app records a single anonymous interest event (the same anonymous install ID and event rail described above — no email, no identity).
Data Privacy Agent Pro (the paid tier)
The paid service prepares data-deletion and opt-out requests to third-party vendors for you to send, and — where a rights process lets an authorized agent assist — helps you submit them. To do that it processes the personal details you provide for those requests (e.g. name, email, state of residency) and transmits them only to the vendors and rights-frameworks needed to fulfill your request. We minimize and do not repurpose this data.
Children
Data Privacy Agent is not directed to children under 16.
